Quick cache and dash in Montrose Park
A quick cache and dash at Montrose Park takes my cache total to 33 finds - most of which found in 2010!
This cache didn't take me long, even though I was restricted solely to the use of my iPhone - the medium-sized tupperware was jam-packed with goodies - including a travelbug (Dutch Woodenshoes) which seems to originate from Holland as attached to the metal tag are two small wooden clogs.
Hopefully it won't be long before I get this back into the game as I plan to hide another new cache near home this weekend...
I live near to an area I see lots of truckers using as an overnight stop right by Junction 8 of the M1 motorway. Hopefully a few of them will be geocachers and this will be a good way of getting travelbugs and the like travelling up and down the M1 to rack up some miles on their tracking map!
Three quick caches picked up outside the palace
On the way home from Crouch End in Haringey last week I spotted a few local caches showing up as closeby on my iPhone geocaching app - OK, I had to open it to look but I had heard from a friend that there were a number of geocaches placed in Alexandra Park and thought I'd make sure I didn't miss out on what turned out to be three very different finds!
The first cache was a medium-sized tupperware, tucked neatly inside an ornate metal post - a really great hiding place which stands very little chance of being accidentally discovered by passers-by.
After a quick dash up one of the central path through the park, the second cache was a micro magnetic metal containers attached to a very permanent structure.

Put your head between your legs geocache
The third and final geocache took me right past Alexandra Palace (right) and down a path on the other side of the park looking for a disused entrance to a nuclear bunker (apparantly, according to the cache description at www.geocaching.com).
Searching for a geocache described as a heavy 5 litre tupperware was not as easy as I was expecting - the geocache was well camoflagued to blend into it's surroundings but after dismissing it twice I pulled out a lump of concrete which I thought was blocking my way and discovered the largest geocache I have yet found.
These three geocaches were relatively easy to find, especially with a GPS unit and iPhone Geocaching app - if you're in the area and want to increase your cache count, why not give them a go... especially if you're new to the game!
